Abstract

Power quality has special importance in an educational program because it teaches modeling and interactions of large-scale systems. Power quality issues are relatively new in power education programs because of commercial interest in these areas and because the advent of high power electronic switched loads have resulted in power quality degradation in some cases. Industries are now in need of engineers skilled in these advancements in this field. So the need of advancement of educational courses is demand of today in this paper. The indicated influences on the needs of industry suggest that the curricula in the undergraduate and graduate programs should be thoroughly modernized and brought into line with industry needs. Perhaps the most important element of this modernization will be the broadening of topic areas. Using soft computing techniques will make the courses attractive to the students through the use of computer equipped classrooms, interactive problem solving and multimedia presentation. These methods will improve teaching efficiency and increase student interest
